The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mervs shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ribeiro pinned against the cage. Ribeiro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ribeiro scores with a takedown into Mervs's guard.
Ribeiro advances to half guard.
Mervs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ribeiro on the ground.

Ribeiro is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ribeiro looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mervs is in trouble now - Ribeiro has advanced to mount!
Ribeiro wants to take Mervs's back here but Mervs is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Ribeiro is going olschool here, as he tries to force Mervs to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mervs shrugs it off.
Mervs wants to control but Ribeiro is having none of it.

Ribeiro is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Mervs is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Mervs flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Ribeiro anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Mervs and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Ribeiro slips an arm under Mervs chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Ribeiro has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Ribeiro is squeezing on Mervs like an anaconda would it's prey. Mervs fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
