PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Starsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Fitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brad Fitch!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fitch gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fitch lands with a left to the head.
Starsky is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fitch is defending well for now.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Starsky as Fitch tries to tie him up.

Starsky manages to break the clinch.
Starsky moves in looking to clinch but Fitch pushes him off.
Fitch closes the distance looking to clinch

and Starsky counters with a shoot takedown. Fitch fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fitch wants to stand but Starsky is controlling the position.
Fitch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Starsky's guard.

Starsky working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Fitch has passed into half guard!

Fitch is working for a kimura but Starsky is defending it quite comfortably.

Starsky is looking for a sweep. Fitch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Starsky is pressing down on Fitch's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Starsky is looking for a triangle here but Fitch uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fitch stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

and Starsky counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Starsky.
Fitch wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Starsky decides to pull guard.
Starsky wants to sweep but no luck.

Fitch wants to stand but Starsky has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Starsky has his foot on Fitch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fitch works his way back into a safe position though.

Starsky is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fitch is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Starsky lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Starsky shoots for a takedown but Fitch saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Starsky avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick misses from Starsky.
Starsky wants to land a leg kick but Fitch is out of range.

Starsky bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Starsky sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fitch's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fitch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fitch is refusing to be controlled, as Starsky sits in half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Starsky looks for a takedown but Fitch sprawls well.

Fitch throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fitch is trying to control the position but Starsky postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fitch postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Starsky is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fitch, into his guard.

Brad Fitch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

A decent looking body kick lands there for Starsky.

Starsky drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Starsky jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
