Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarkko Ruutu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osmond Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schwartz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hell March kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarkko Ruutu! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Osmond Schwartz! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schwartz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schwartz lands in his opponent's guard. Ruutu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schwartz defends well. Schwartz prevents Ruutu from getting back to his feet. Schwartz stands and steps away. Ruutu gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ruutu lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Schwartz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Schwartz wants to control but Ruutu is keeping him busy. Ruutu pushes Schwartz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Schwartz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schwartz stands up and we're back to a striking position. Schwartz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ruutu! Schwartz avoids the attempt from Ruutu to control. Schwartz landing shots from mount. Schwartz tries to control but Ruutu wriggling away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwartz throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Ruutu wants to hold on but Schwartz pushes him away. Ruutu is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Ruutu is breathing heavily. Schwartz tries to control but Ruutu wriggling away. Ruutu wants to control but Schwartz is having none of it. Schwartz working away from the top, dropping strikes. Schwartz with the ground and pound from mount. Ruutu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schwartz on the ground. Schwartz scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwartz trying to control but he's not successful this time. Schwartz goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ruutu is on top in guard.
Ruutu trying to stand up but can't free himself from Schwartz's guard. Schwartz keeping moving, preventing Ruutu from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ruutu preventing the sweep. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Schwartz has eaten all the pies! Schwartz trying to control the position.
Ruutu trying to control but Schwartz is working from the bottom. Schwartz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ruutu defends well. Schwartz trying to control the position.

Osmond Schwartz dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ruutu tests Schwartz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Schwartz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ruutu paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Ruutu. No joy for Schwartz on that attempt. Ruutu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Schwartz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruutu somewhat. Schwartz misses with a takedown and Ruutu counters with a two punch combo. Ruutu fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ruutu fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruutu swats away the attempt to clinch by Schwartz.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruutu throws a right hand that Schwartz ducks under and follows up with a left that Schwartz also avoids with ease. Ruutu connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Schwartz's hands. Schwartz has his takedown stuffed and Ruutu counters with a right hand to the body. Jarkko Ruutu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Osmond Schwartz. Horrible takedown by Ruutu or perhaps it was just good defense by Schwartz which made him look bad. Jarkko Ruutu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Schwartz throws a sloppy head kick and Ruutu moves out of range easily. Schwartz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ruutu thows a big elbow that misses. Schwartz uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Schwartz moves into range and clinches up with Ruutu. Schwartz tries to pull guard but Ruutu holds him up against the cage and eventually Schwartz drops back down to his feet.
Ruutu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schwartz throws a nice looking combination but Ruutu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruutu closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Schwartz to the mat! Schwartz manages to get full guard. Schwartz working a defensive guard here.
Schwartz wants to sweep but no luck. Schwartz trying to control the position.
Schwartz is controlling Ruutu's posture. Ruutu has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ruutu would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schwartz is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Schwartz trying to keep a closed guard but Ruutu is proving a slippery customer.

Jarkko Ruutu dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Schwartz slaps away a takedown attempt from Ruutu, before circling back to the center of the mat. The fight moves into the clinch position. Schwartz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ruutu pulls him back up using the underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schwartz is trying to break the clinch but Ruutu has him pressed against the cage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ruutu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ruutu misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Schwartz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ruutu as he jumps to the side. Jarkko Ruutu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Osmond Schwartz. Schwartz darts in trying to clinch and Ruutu counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Schwartz! Schwartz tries to lock up and control but Ruutu gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ruutu is in the full mount, landing strikes. Schwartz is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwartz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ruutu. Ruutu looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Schwartz is trying to escape the mount.
Schwartz tries to lock up and control but Ruutu gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruutu looking to finish Schwartz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Schwartz! Schwartz flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Schwartz tries to reverse the position but Ruutu maintains control. Schwartz regains half guard. Schwartz gets full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Schwartz holds on and takes a little breather. Schwartz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Osmond Schwartz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ruutu drops back looking for a leg! Schwartz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schwartz manages to kick Ruutu off! Ruutu jumps back into Schwartz's guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Schwartz swings away with a body shot that misses
and Schwartz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jarkko Ruutu clearly takes that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ruutu. Ruutu changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Schwartz fights it off and pushes away nicely.

It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ruutu uses from the top position. Schwartz pushes Ruutu off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Ruutu displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Schwartz. Ruutu moves in looking to clinch but Schwartz pushes him off. Ruutu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The referee asks Schwartz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Schwartz prefers to stall for the moment though. Ruutu is not content to let Schwartz control the position. Ruutu tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schwartz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Ruutu sneaks back into half guard. Ruutu trying to control but Schwartz postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruutu wants to get back to full guard. Ruutu pushes Schwartz off looking to stand but Schwartz dives back in and keeps control.

Ruutu wants to take a breather but Schwartz is having none of it. Schwartz wants to get back to full guard. Schwartz is not content to let Ruutu control the position. Schwartz wants to get back to full guard. Schwartz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Schwartz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Schwartz seems keen to control Ruutu's posture. Ruutu throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Schwartz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Osmond Schwartz. I think Schwartz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
