The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gay gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows the hustler to score an easy takedown into full guard.
the hustler wants to pass the guard but Gay is keeping the position.

the hustler thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

the hustler is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gay is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gay has escaped and now he's on top!

the hustler pushes Gay off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Gay slaps away a takedown attempt from the hustler , before circling back to the center of the mat.

the hustler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - the hustler lands in his opponent's guard.

the hustler drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and the hustler jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

the hustler decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gay, up you get!

the hustler shoots for a double leg takedown but Gay sprawls well. He's pushed the hustler 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
