The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Penn.
Gracie takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Penn slips a jab and a cross from Gracie.
Penn connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Gracie takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Penn finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head.
Penn misses with a two punch combination.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.
Penn works over Gracie's head and body with a nice combination.
DJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gracie.
Penn scores with a three punch combo!
Penn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Penn lands with a shot to the body.
Penn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Penn looks to land a combination. Gracie sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Penn connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gracie. Gracie circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A right-left combo lands from Penn.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
DJ Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mateus Gracie.
Gracie looks gassed!
Gracie is looking to clinch.
Penn moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Penn lands with a straight right. Gracie didn't see that one coming.

Gracie is rocked!
Penn dances in with a quick combination. Gracie is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Penn snaps Gracie's head back. Gracie stumbles backwards against the cage. Penn steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Gracie's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Gracie just didn't come prepared.
