The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Friedhelm shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jackson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Jackson postures up in Friedhelm's guard and throws a big left but Friedhelm blocks it. Jackson trying to control but Friedhelm is working from the bottom. Friedhelm is looking to stand up but Jackson isn't so interested in that idea. Jackson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Jackson fails with a takedown attempt. Friedhelm tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.
Friedhelm defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jackson. Guido Friedhelm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaren Jackson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jackson shoots in but Friedhelm avoids the takedown attempt easily. Friedhelm fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Friedhelm sprawls well. Jackson looks gassed! Jackson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Friedhelm tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.

Friedhelm throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Friedhelm defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson keeps the fight on the outside. Friedhelm moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Friedhelm sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Jackson keeps the fight on the outside. Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jackson keeps the fight on the outside. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jaren Jackson will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jackson slips under a jab from Friedhelm. Friedhelm is looking to clinch but Jackson is avoiding it.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Friedhelm is trying to stand.
Jackson is breathing heavily. Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Friedhelm scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Jackson manages to mount him!

Friedhelm's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. BOOM! Jackson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jackson working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Friedhelm looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Jackson! Submission of the night perhaps?
