Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Lyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dylan Conroy! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conroy is looking to clinch. Conroy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lyle paws at him with a jab and circles away. Conroy misses with a hook. Lyle ducked under it nicely. Conroy tries to clinch there but Lyle circles away.
Dylan Conroy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Conroy wants to clinch up but Lyle keeps it at a distance. Conroy misses with a low kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Conroy looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Lyle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Conroy wants to clinch up but Lyle keeps it at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lyle swats away the attempt to clinch by Conroy. Conroy tries to clinch but Lyle moves out of range. Conroy misses with a double jab.
Lyle avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conroy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Conroy tries to clinch there but Lyle circles away.
Conroy fails in his attempt to clinch. Conroy tries to close the distance and clinch but Lyle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Conroy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lyle swats him away and circles back towards the center. Conroy doesn't manage to clinch there - Lyle circles away.
Lyle lands a big head kick that sends Conroy tumbling to the mat! Lyle takes a step backwards and waves Conroy back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Dylan Conroy has been cut. Lyle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Conroy is still on wobbly legs! Can Lyle finish him? Conroy throws a lazy head kick and Lyle counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Conroy is staying active underneath Lyle, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Conroy seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyle passes the guard and advances to mount! Lyle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Conroy is looking to escape. Lyle working for a guillotine from mount but Conroy is in no mood to give up. Lyle thowing shots but they're missing. Lyle lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lyle looking to secure an arm triangle but Conroy defends it well. Lyle fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Conroy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lyle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lyle scores with a couple of good head shots there.
A nice elbow there by Lyle. Lyle trying to control but Conroy is having none of it. Lyle postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Conroy looks a forlorn figure.
Conroy tries to hold on but Lyle pushes him away. Lyle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lyle looking to finish Conroy with some ground and pound. This is bad for Conroy! Lyle pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Lyle takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lyle wants to control the pace but Conroy is squirming around nicely. Lyle lands a big shot there that rocks Conroy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lyle lands with some strikes. Lyle landing punches. Conroy looks gassed! Lyle scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Conroy?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Lyle dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dylan Conroy's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lyle circles away from the clinch attempt and Lyle counters with a shoot takedown. Conroy fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lyle's corner is telling him to maintain position. Jon Lyle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lyle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Conroy trying to control the position.
Lyle trying to control the position from guard on top but Conroy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lyle postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conroy keeping moving, preventing Lyle from controlling successfully. Conroy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lyle with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Lyle trying to control but Conroy is working from the bottom. Conroy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lyle is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Conroy. Conroy is breathing heavily. Lyle fails to land a wild elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lyle moves into full mount! Lyle landing punches. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Conroy can do anything to dispel that myth. Conroy is trying to escape the mount.
Lyle lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Conroy hang on? Conroy tries to hold on but Lyle postures up. Lyle pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Lyle unloading with bombs! Lyle looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lyle is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Conroy is surviving well by controlling Lyle's body position as best he can. Conroy is squirming around, avoiding Lyle's attempts to control the action. Conroy wants to control but Lyle is having none of it. Lyle working for a submission but Conroy is keeping him at bay. Conroy can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Conroy takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Lyle is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Conroy can do to turn this around? The referee warns Conroy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Conroy is looking to get to half guard. Lyle is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Conroy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Conroy is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Lyle locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Conroy is forced to tap!
