Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Fraiser! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daryl Abbott! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fraiser avoids the head kick by Abbott.
Daryl Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abbott checks a leg kick nicely. Abbott misses with a two punch combination.
Abbott shoots in but no luck this time. Abbott shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fraiser as he avoids it easily. Abbott tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Fraiser closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fraiser lands in his opponent's guard. Abbott looking for a guillotine here but Fraiser defends easily.
Fraiser working some strikes from top position. Abbott striking off his back but it's not causing Fraiser any problems. Fraiser trying to control but Abbott is working from the bottom. Fraiser stands and throws Abbott's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fraiser has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Abbott! Fraiser moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Abbott has worked his arm free - good work by Abbott!
Fraiser tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Abbott is letting Fraiser control him for a moment. Fraiser is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Abbott knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Abbott is not content to let Fraiser control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fraiser advances to full mount. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Abbott is looking to improve his position but Fraiser isn't that keen on the idea. Fraiser landing shots from mount. Abbott is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Fraiser is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Abbott shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fraiser manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Fraiser is breathing heavily. Abbott throwing strikes from guard but Fraiser blocks nicely. Fraiser has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abbott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Abbott must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fraiser avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abbott trying to control but Fraiser is working from the bottom. Abbott content to stall in guard here. Fraiser has his foot on Abbott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abbott works his way back into a safe position though. Abbott is looking to stand up but Fraiser won't let him. Fraiser wants to sweep but no luck. Abbott content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Fraiser has locked up a guillotine! Fraiser's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Abbott is holding on here and Fraiser must be using up a lot of energy. Abbott has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Fraiser gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
