Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Andreas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Joe!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe doesn't manage to clinch there - Andreas circles away.
Joe stuffs the takedown.
Andreas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Andreas throws a sloppy head kick and Joe moves out of range easily.
Andreas swinging wilding here.
Joe lands a nice hook to Andreas's body. Andreas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Joe slips under a jab.
Andreas throws a body kick that misses.

Joe closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Joe turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Andreas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Joe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Joe is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Andreas has escaped the position, nice work there.

Joe stands up and beckons Andreas to his feet.
Andreas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Joe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Andreas throws a sloppy head kick and Joe moves out of range easily.
Andreas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Andreas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Joe swivels and escapes.
Andreas is breathing heavily.
Joe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Andreas circles away quickly and effectively.
A combination from Andreas does no damage.

Joe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Andreas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Joe takes a little break here. Andreas wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Joe stands up and beckons Andreas to his feet.

Joe has closed the distance and engaged Andreas in a clinch.

Joe manages to pull guard.
Joe has control of Andreas's left arm, preventing Andreas from doing any damage.

Joe looking to control.
Andreas wants to control from the top but Joe keeps moving.
Andreas preventing the sweep.
Joe keeping moving, preventing Andreas from controlling successfully.
Andreas won't allow Joe to get back to his feet.

Joe is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Andreas does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Andreas looks to score with a jab to the body but Joe is just out of range.

Andreas misses with a head kick.
Andreas takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Joe scores with a head kick.
Andreas tries for a takedown but Joe circles away easily
and Joe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Andreas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Joe counters with a single leg into guard. Andreas didn't expect that.

Andreas has an active guard here but Joe has managed to pass into half guard.
Joe is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe wants to take a breather but Andreas is having none of it.

Andreas is trying to control but can't.
Joe wants to stand up but Andreas is controlling the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Andreas manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Joe wants to control from the top but Andreas keeps moving.
Joe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Andreas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Joe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Joe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Andreas throws a leg kick

and Joe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Joe is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Andreas punching from the bottom.
Joe tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Andreas.

Andreas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Joe pulls his head out easily.
Andreas is in trouble now - Joe has advanced to mount!
Joe lands a big elbow.
Andreas wants to control but Joe is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Joe content just to control the position here.

Andreas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Joe looking to control but Andreas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Andreas swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Joe looking to control and managing it successfully.

Joe working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Andreas sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Andreas is looking to control Joe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Andreas avoid being mounted?
Andreas moves into full guard.
Andreas keeping moving, preventing Joe from controlling successfully.

Andreas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Joe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jason Joe has got the better of the ground game so far.

Andreas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Joe is aware though and is defending well.

Andreas looking for subs off his back but Joe has passed one foot through into half guard.

Joe decides to return to a standing position.
Andreas throws a right and a left that Joe avoids nicely.

Joe decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Joe decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Joe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Andreas!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Andreas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Joe avoids the attempt from Andreas to control.
The referee warns Andreas that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Andreas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Joe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Andreas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Joe jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Andreas manages to avoid the submission attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Joe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Joe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Joe lands with a thumping leg kick.
Joe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Joe dodges the punch combination from Andreas.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Joe.
Andreas struggling a bit here.
Andreas tries to buck Joe off but Joe is having none of it.
Joe advances to mount.
Joe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Andreas is looking to escape.

Andreas slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Andreas works his way to full guard. Good work.

Andreas throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Joe escapes and throws Andreas's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Andreas has his foot on Joe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joe works his way back into a safe position though.
