The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista swats away the attempt to clinch by Head.
Head gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Head keeping full guard, as Batista tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Batista postures up in Head's guard and throws a big left but Head blocks it.
Batista trying to control the position from guard on top but Head is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Head looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Head really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Batista. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Head wants to stand and escape but Batista is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Batista counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Batista seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
