Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Esa Pekka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, D Day!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa J�rvil�inen and Marco Blurstr�m.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day is looking to score with low kicks.
A head kick misses from Pekka.
Day shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pekka but Pekka pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Day has a takedown stuffed.
Day misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Day scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Esa Pekka has been cut.
Day scores with a jab.
Pekka could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pekka circles away from the clinch attempt.
D Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Day closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pekka is looking for a sweep. Day is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pekka is defending against the submission attempts here by Day.
Pekka is trying to maintain the position but Day is very close to passing his half guard.

Day is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pekka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Day.
Day is nestled in close to Pekka, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Day trying to work for an americana but Pekka has managed to regain full guard.
Pekka pulls Day in close to prevent any damage.
Pekka is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Day looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pekka wants to sweep here but Day controlling him for the moment.
Day keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pekka's head.
Day lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Day is looking to work some ground and pound but Pekka has wrist control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Day pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pekka is keeping the position for now.
Day is looking to advance position but Pekka has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Pekka can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Day is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Day's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Pekka is breathing heavily.
Day can't escape the position.
Day is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Day has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Day tries to control the position but Pekka now has his back.
Day manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pekka's guard. Nice work there by Day.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Day accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Day shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pekka defends it nicely.
Esa Pekka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of D Day.

Pekka throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Day was covering up waiting for the punch and Pekka finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Pekka throwing strikes but missing.
Day punching to the body, from the bottom.
Pekka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Pekka is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Day has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Pekka is looking to defend but Day has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Pekka! Day pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Pekka taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). D Day!
