Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Abia!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Abia darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Joad.
Abia takes one to the side of the head.
It looks like Jean Abia has been cut.
Joad swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Joad misses with the combination.
Joad fails to land with a series of punches.
Joad cracks Abia with a right hand to the side of the head.
Joad misses the shot to the body.
Joad chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Abia can pounce on him.
Abia avoids a punch combination nicely.
Abia closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Joad thuds his right hand into Abia's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Joad throws a series of punches but Abia avoids them all with ease.
Abia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Joad.
Joad lands with a nice combination. Abia backs away looking to recover.
Joad swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Abia counters with a nice leg kick.
Joad blocks a low kick nicely.
Joad connects with the punch.
Tom Joad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abia moves away from the strike by Joad.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Joad lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Abia circles away quickly and effectively.
Joad throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Abia counters with a low kick, right behind Joad 's knee.
Abia scores with a head kick.
Joad chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Abia can pounce on him.
Abia scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Joad's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Joad duly obliges.
Abia is rocked!
Joad is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Abia hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tom Joad!
