Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Cheng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murilo Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrew Cheng!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Murilo Ferreira!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cheng forces Ferreira back against the cage and clinches.
Cheng lands a body shot in the clinch.

Cheng escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cheng shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ferreira but Ferreira pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ferreira swats away the attempt to clinch by Cheng.

Ferreira clinches up with Cheng and pushes him back against the cage.
Cheng leaning his opponent against the cage.
Cheng scores with a hook to the body.
Ferreira tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cheng smiles and moves away.
Horrible takedown by Cheng or perhaps it was just good defense by Ferreira which made him look bad.

Cheng looks for a takedown but Ferreira sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Cheng. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ferreira stuffs the takedown attempt from Cheng. Cheng gets slowly back to his feet.
Ferreira slips a jab and a cross from Cheng.
Cheng looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ferreira is fending him off so far but Cheng persists. Nope, Ferreira circles away and we're back to standing.

and Ferreira counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ferreira.

Cheng trying to keep a closed guard but Ferreira is proving a slippery customer.
Ferreira throwing strikes but missing.
Cheng has his hands on Ferreira's head, controlling the position.
Ferreira has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cheng tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ferreira not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cheng looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ferreira is one step ahead there.

Ferreira wants to control from the top but Cheng keeps moving.

Cheng looking for a guillotine here but Ferreira defends easily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cheng wants to clinch but Ferreira slips to the side

and Ferreira counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cheng's guard now.
Ferreira won't allow Cheng to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cheng wants to stand up but Ferreira is controlling him.
Cheng controls Ferreira momentarily but Ferreira frees himself.
Ferreira wants to stand but Cheng is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ferreira looks gassed!

Ferreira gets the takedown into side control.
Cheng tries to bench press Ferreira off him but Ferreira keeps the position.
Cheng is trying to control Ferreira's posture but Ferreira avoids it.
Ferreira wants to control but Cheng is keeping him busy.
Cheng keeping his opponent close.
Ferreira is breathing heavily.
Cheng is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ferreira's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Cheng is looking to improve his position.
Ferreira thows a huge punch but Cheng dodges it nicely.
Cheng wants to get back to full guard but Ferreira has mounted him!
Ferreira wants to control but instead Cheng manages to regain half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cheng had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ferreira is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cheng Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ferreira's back instead.
Cheng controls the action.
Cheng cracks Ferreira with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Ferreira from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Cheng struggling to keep hold of the position.

Cheng lands a shot to the body.
Cheng has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ferreira's body.
Cheng has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Cheng's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
I really don't envy Ferreira right now.

Cheng is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Ferreira is trying to break free.
Cheng has good solid back control here.
Even with his hooks in, Cheng manages to miss with strikes from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Cheng looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cheng tries a head kick but it misses.
Andrew Cheng is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cheng lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ferreira has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ferreira and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Cheng is trying to hold Ferreira in close to prevent damage but Ferreira has managed to pass into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ferreira tries to pass to full mount but Cheng defends it.
Murilo Ferreira has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ferreira wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cheng keeps working.
Cheng regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cheng has his hands on Ferreira's head, controlling the position.

and Cheng counters with a head kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Cheng.
Andrew Cheng seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cheng tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Ferreira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cheng's guard.
Cheng looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Cheng lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ferreira!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Andrew Cheng just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Cheng changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ferreira tries to avoid it but Cheng manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ferreira to the ground. Ferreira escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cheng clinches.

Cheng escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ferreira fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andrew Cheng showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cheng has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
