Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gegard Mousasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cain Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mousasi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sanchez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mousasi smiles and moves away.
Mousasi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sanchez.

Mousasi stuffs the takedown.
Mousasi is looking to clinch.

Sanchez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mousasi's guard.
Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Mousasi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sanchez stays in close to Mousasi's body and controls the position.
Mousasi keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully.
Sanchez looking to sit in guard and control but Mousasi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanchez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mousasi defends well.

Sanchez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sanchez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mousasi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mousasi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.

Sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mousasi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mousasi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mousasi tries to clinch but Sanchez moves away

and Sanchez counters with a takedown into side control.

Sanchez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanchez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sanchez goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mousasi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Sanchez's guard! Nice work there by Mousasi!

Mousasi stands and steps away. Sanchez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Sanchez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mousasi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mousasi closes the distance but Sanchez moves to the side

Gegard Mousasi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Sanchez.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mousasi is defended easily by Sanchez.

and Sanchez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mousasi's guard now.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sanchez has eaten all the pies!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanchez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sanchez drops back looking for a leg! Mousasi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mousasi manages to kick Sanchez off! Sanchez jumps back into Mousasi's guard.
Sanchez wants to control from the top but Mousasi keeps moving.
Mousasi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mousasi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sanchez tries to free his leg and advance position but Mousasi is retaining full guard.

Sanchez wants to control from the top but Mousasi keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sanchez thows a big elbow that misses.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mousasi tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Sanchez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
