Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lionel Steakworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akihiro Ono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ono is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by TNT. Akihiro Ono will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ono shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Steakworth is trying to get back to full guard.
Steakworth keeping hold of Ono's head, controlling as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steakworth tries to roll over but Ono keeps him under control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ono looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Steakworth showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ono.
Ono fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ono looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Steakworth tries to keep at a distance but Ono has taken the fight into the clinch.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Steakworth tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ono swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Steakworth has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ono throws an elbow but it misses.
Ono changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Steakworth fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ono moves in looking to clinch but Steakworth pushes him off.

and Ono counters by clinching up.

Ono shoots in looking for a takedown. Steakworth tries to sprawl out of it but Ono keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Steakworth manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Steakworth throws a leg kick but Ono sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Ono fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Steakworth, pushing him back against the cage.
Ono breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Steakworth counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ono won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steakworth wants to control but Ono is keeping him busy.
Steakworth is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ono is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Akihiro Ono showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ono moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Well Ono has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
