PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rocky Serra struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jordan Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rocky Serra!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Serra darts in trying to clinch

and Hall counters by clinching up.

Hall ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hall no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Serra slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Hall.
Hall is looking to escape.
Serra is keen to just control but Hall is a slippery customer.

Hall tries to kick Serra off but Serra keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Serra changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hall fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Serra dodges the punch combination from Hall.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hall.

Serra shoots in and bounces Hall off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hall wants to sweep here but Serra controlling him for the moment.

Serra gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Serra counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Serra perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hall wants to get back to full guard but Serra has passed into side control.
Serra tries to control but Hall wriggling away.
Hall is wriggling around trying to escape.

Serra fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hall is desperately trying to improve his position but Serra has a good base and remains in mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Serra gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Hall clinches.

Serra pulls guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocky Serra dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Serra misses with a takedown attempt

and Hall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Serra won't be happy with that.
Serra is trying to work for a sweep but Hall has mounted him!

Hall wants to control the pace but Serra is squirming around nicely.

Serra tries to hold on but Hall postures up.

Hall goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Serra is on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Serra wants to stand but Hall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hall wants to stand but Serra is controlling the position.
Hall tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hall shoots in for a takedown but Serra shows good takedown defense.

Hall clinches up with Serra and pushes him back against the cage.

Hall breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Serra looks to land a combination but Hall avoids it well.
Serra circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hall throws a one two combo.
Serra throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hall misses with a low kick.
Hall tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Serra swivels and escapes.

Serra is pressed up against the cage. Hall has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Serra down to the mat. Serra avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hall shoots in looking for a takedown. Serra tries to sprawl out of it but Hall keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Serra manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hall is looking to clinch but Serra is avoiding it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hall keeps the fight on the outside.
Serra showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hall.
Serra shoots for a takedown but Hall saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hall moves into the clinch successfully.
Serra tries to pull guard but Hall won't allow it.
A frustrated look appears on Hall's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hall is pressed up against the cage. Serra has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hall down to the mat. Hall avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Serra closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hall did well to prevent Serra getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Hall shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Serra is trying to defend but Hall finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Serra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hall!
Hall is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Serra really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Hall.
