Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, james austin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
austin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wilson's hands.
james austin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wilson checks the leg kick nicely there.
Wilson defending well as austin loads up on a big left hand.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by austin.
Wilson misses with a wild combination.
austin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wilson tries to clinch but austin is having none of it.

austin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wilson is trying to defend but austin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wilson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
austin is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Wilson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Wilson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
austin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Wilson had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Wilson seems to have got his legs back now.

and Wilson counters with a good low kick that austin was not able to check.

austin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wilson moves in looking to clinch but austin pushes him off.
austin feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Wilson's calf.
austin tries to close the distance and clinch but Wilson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wilson looks for a takedown but austin sprawls well.

Wilson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

austin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
austin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

austin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Wilson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
austin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilson breaks from austin's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

james austin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Wilson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

and austin counters with a left and a right that stings Wilson.
austin throws a nice looking combination but Wilson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
austin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wilson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Wilson misses with a takedown attempt - austin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

austin throws a wild body kick that Wilson sees coming a mile off.

Wilson closes the distance and clinches.
Wilson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

austin thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wilson if he has to take too many more of those.

austin is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wilson is controlling him well.

Wilson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

austin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wilson circles away quickly and effectively.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
austin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Wilson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dave Wilson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Dave Wilson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
austin is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Wilson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wilson tries to control but austin wriggling away.
austin trying desperately to get to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if austin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wilson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… austin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by austin and Wilson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
