Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcis Davus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davus kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jump Around. Marcis Davus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcis Davus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Roberts! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Roberts shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Davus defends it nicely. Davus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Roberts drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Davus can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Roberts controls the pace. Roberts tries to free his leg and advance position but Davus is retaining full guard. Roberts trying to control but Davus is working from the bottom. Roberts might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Davus kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Roberts is controlling him. Roberts throws a strike but Davus rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Roberts thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Roberts trying to keep a closed guard but Davus is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Davus connects with a right hand. Roberts shakes it off. Roberts jabbing away but nothing is landing. No luck with that takedown attempt from Roberts. Marcis Davus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Roberts. Roberts looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Davus is fending him off so far but Roberts persists. Davus bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Roberts's head backwards. Davus scores with a one two! Roberts had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Roberts looks gassed! Davus misses with a jab, cross combination.

Marcis Davus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Davus throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Roberts. Roberts misses with a takedown attempt - Davus sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Roberts tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Davus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roberts moves away. Roberts gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Roberts goes for a takedown in the clinch but Davus prevents it.

Marcis Davus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Davus tries to close the distance and clinch up but Roberts swats him away and circles back towards the center. Roberts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. The fight stays on the outside here - Roberts looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Davus tries to bum rush Roberts with a series of wild strikes but Roberts uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Roberts dodges the punch combination from Davus.

Roberts had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Davus is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Roberts Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Davus's back instead. Davus is in a bad position with Roberts working for a choke. Davus manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. Davus has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Roberts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davus is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Roberts is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Roberts shoots for a double leg takedown but Davus sprawls well. He's pushed Roberts's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Roberts slips a jab and a cross from Davus.

Davus is trying to stand up here but Roberts is controlling him well. Marcis Davus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Roberts trying to mount his opponent but Davus defends it. Roberts stands up from half guard. Roberts has closed the distance and engaged Davus in a clinch.

Roberts tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Davus just stands there and leans against the cage. Davus is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roberts keeps control of Davus as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Roberts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Roberts swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Davus dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Davus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Davus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Davus lands a nice hook to Roberts's body. Roberts takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Matt Roberts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Davus uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Roberts has time to react. Davus's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Davus duly obliges. Roberts fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Roberts walks into a left hand. Davus drives through and clinches with Roberts against the cage.
Roberts is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Roberts has Davus pressed against the cage, preventing Davus from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Roberts keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Davus's efforts to push away. Roberts tries to pull guard but Davus won't allow it.

Davus is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. A short body shot lands from Roberts as the two fighters clinch.
Roberts goes for a takedown attempt but Davus pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Davus fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marcis Davus. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
