The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knight jabs Wesentlund right on the nose. Wesentlund blinks but takes it well. Knight connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wesentlund's hands. Wesentlund tries to clinch but Knight moves out of range. Wesentlund drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wesentlund stands up and we're back to a striking position. Knight shoots and misses and Wesentlund counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Knight's guard now. This has been an exciting period of action! Wesentlund wants to control from the top but Knight keeps moving. Wesentlund should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Knight is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wesentlund forces his way into half guard. Wesentlund wants to pass to mount but Knight is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knight is looking to improve his position.
Wesentlund has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Knight defend it? Wesentlund steps over the head and cranks it - Knight is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wesentlund!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rolf Wesentlund!
