Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields comes to the cage accompanied by "Walk" by Pantera. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shields. Williams keeps the fight on the outside. Williams circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shields misses with a looping right. Williams's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Williams duly obliges. Williams scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Shields wants to get back to full guard. Williams is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shields trying to control here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Williams seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Williams in particular looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Shields nods at Williams to acknowledge the strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Williams decides to return to a standing position. Mark Shields seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shields gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Williams counters with a takedown into side control. Williams stands up and beckons Shields to his feet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shields misses with a takedown and Williams holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Shields is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Williams is defending well for now. Shields unloads a knee to the mid-section. Williams lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Williams lands a takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shields can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Williams controls the pace. Williams tries to stand but Shields is controlling from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shields tries to close the distance and clinch up but Williams swats him away and circles back towards the center. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Shields's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Shields is looking to get back to full guard here but Williams has managed to pass to side control instead. Shields in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Both fighters are breathing heavily. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shields regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Shields darts in trying to clinch and Williams counters with a takedown into side control. Shields tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Williams presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! A nice elbow there by Williams. Williams sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Shields tries to get back to half guard but can't. Williams controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Williams goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Williams displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Shields with a poor takedown and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shields's guard. Williams seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Williams tries to stand but Shields is controlling from the bottom. Shields throws his legs up looking for a submission but Williams uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Williams controls the position. Dan Williams is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Shields throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Dan Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
