Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tiger Bai Hua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Strong! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strong has closed the distance and engaged Bai Hua in a clinch.
Strong misses with a knee strike.
Bai Hua throws a head punch that misses. Strong is trying to maintain a safe position but Bai Hua gets an underhook and turns Strong into the cage. Bai Hua decides to pull guard. Bai Hua is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Strong throwing strikes but missing. Strong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bai Hua. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bai Hua is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Strong defends well. Bai Hua wants to sweep here but Strong controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Strong is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Strong stops Bai Hua from standing up. Bai Hua looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strong trying to control the position from guard on top but Bai Hua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bai Hua looking for a guillotine here but Strong defends easily.
Strong with a nice head shot there. Bai Hua is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Strong throws a big right hand that misses. Bai Hua keeping moving, preventing Strong from controlling successfully. Strong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Strong is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Strong wants to stand but Bai Hua has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bai Hua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Strong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Bai Hua looking for a triangle here. Strong is fighting it but it looks tight! Bai Hua pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Strong is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tiger Bai Hua!
