Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rick Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and pat johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! johnson clinches up with Johnson and pushes him back against the cage. johnson looking for a takedown. Johnson gets a trip takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. johnson is looking to escape. Johnson is thwarting johnson's attempts to control the position. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for johnson on the ground. Johnson wants to control but johnson is keeping him busy. johnson pushes Johnson off looking to stand but Johnson dives back in and keeps control.

Johnson is nestled in close to johnson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. That's one minute gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow. Johnson is nestled in close to johnson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Johnson winds up and cracks johnson with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Johnson looks to land a strike but johnson avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Johnson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Johnson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and johnson dives on top into guard. Johnson wants to stand and escape but johnson is having none of it. johnson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. johnson wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Johnson throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. johnson tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance. johnson has a takedown stuffed. johnson looks gassed! johnson wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Johnson distracts johnson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Johnson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and johnson dives on top into guard. johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Johnson wants to sweep here but johnson controlling him for the moment. Johnson wants to hit a switch here but johnson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Johnson there!
That's three minutes gone in the round. johnson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.
Johnson throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. johnson scoring with strikes but Johnson is staying in there. Johnson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Johnson is working hard here to advance position. Johnson wants to control but johnson is having none of it. johnson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Johnson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Johnson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. johnson passes the guard and advances to mount! johnson prevents Johnson from getting the reversal. Johnson flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
johnson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Johnson hang on? johnson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
johnson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Johnson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Johnson is looking to get to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. johnson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! johnson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
