Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mark lands a head kick. Rivera smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Rivera throws a right and a left that Mark avoids nicely.

Mark closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mark lands in his opponent's guard.

Mark got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rivera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mark has managed to get both his arms back between Rivera's legs - danger averted.

Mark decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rivera, up you get!
Mark ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rivera throws a series of punches but Mark moves out of range.
Mark scores with a jab to the head.

Mark feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rivera looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mark passes into side control.
Mark just content to control the position.
Mark really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rivera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Rivera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mark loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rivera is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mark defends well.

Rivera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mark doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mark manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mark has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Rivera to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mark is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Rivera pulls down on the head and he's put Mark to sleep! This one is all over!
