Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, jake sir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikael Sundqvist! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! sir tries to clinch up but Sundqvist circles away and keeps his distance. Mikael Sundqvist seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. sir throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That has opened up Mikael Sundqvist's cut even more. Sundqvist lands a nice hook to sir's body. sir takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Sundqvist jabbing away but nothing is landing. sir defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sundqvist. sir with a poor takedown and Sundqvist counters with a lovely shot to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sundqvist misses the jab. A cross from Sundqvist lands. sir is breathing heavily. Sundqvist closes the distance and clinches. Sundqvist turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sundqvist manages to end up in side control. sir throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
The referee asks Sundqvist politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sundqvist prefers to stall for the moment though. Sundqvist tries to advance to mount but sir denies him. Sundqvist tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sundqvist has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Sundqvist tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Sundqvist just content to control the position. Sundqvist wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by sir, who protects the arm well. sir taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sundqvist moves into full mount! Sundqvist has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of sir's face.
Sundqvist wants to take sir's back but he can't do it this time. Sundqvist breaks from sir's wrist control and lands an elbow. Sundqvist trying to control but sir is having none of it. Sundqvist in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sundqvist lands a heavy elbow. Sundqvist can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as sir is looking to escape. sir is bucking up trying to escape but Sundqvist cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Sundqvist working sir over with strikes here. Sundqvist with shots to the head and body - sir looks very uncomfortable down there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A nice elbow there by Sundqvist. Sundqvist tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. sir is squirming around, avoiding Sundqvist's attempts to control the action. Sundqvist controlling from mount. I looks like Sundqvist might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Despite being in the dominant position, Mikael Sundqvist just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sundqvist closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mikael Sundqvist dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mikael Sundqvist's cut. That's time! sir's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Sundqvist bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. sir attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. sir tries to clinch there but Sundqvist circles away.
sir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sundqvist tries to avoid it but sir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sundqvist to the ground. Sundqvist escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sundqvist lands a big shot that drops sir! Can he finish him?
Sundqvist makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Sundqvist passes sir's left leg - he's now in half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sundqvist passes the guard and advances to mount! sir tries to buck Sundqvist off but Sundqvist takes his back! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sundqvist is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at sir. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. A bit of a pause in the action here. Sundqvist controlling the positon.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sundqvist patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? What can sir do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Sundqvist lands a shot to the body. Sundqvist has been the more effective fighter overall so far. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Sundqvist working for a choke but sir is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sundqvist is looking for the choke from the back position but sir is controlling his hands well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sundqvist slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
sir knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sundqvist on the ground. sir wants to control his opponent's hands but Sundqvist gets his hands free. sir is trying to defend against the choke here but Sundqvist has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Sundqvist Tightens the hold and sir taps out furiously! Sundqvist displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mikael Sundqvist!
