Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bart Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Samuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samuel has chosen Our Dreams as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jorge Samuel was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bart Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Samuel! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Samuel gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Griffin to score an easy takedown into full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Samuel wants to stand and escape but Griffin is having none of it. Griffin drops back looking for a leg! Samuel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Samuel manages to kick Griffin off! Griffin jumps back into Samuel's guard. Samuel pushes Griffin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Samuel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Samuel won't be happy with that. Samuel is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Griffin has just dragged him back down to the mat. Griffin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Griffin is looking to take a break and control but Samuel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Griffin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Griffin looking to control but instead Samuel has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Griffin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Griffin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Samuel defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Samuel wants to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Samuel is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Griffin moves into full mount! Samuel won't be happy about that! Samuel squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Griffin thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Samuel's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Griffin looking to secure an arm triangle but Samuel defends it well. Griffin is breathing heavily. Samuel is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Griffin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Griffin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Samuel is looking to escape. Griffin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Samuel is surviving well by controlling Griffin's body position as best he can. Griffin throws some wild stikes that Samuel manages to avoid easily.
Samuel is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Griffin unloads with some shots from mount but Samuel bucks and avoids them well.
Griffin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Samuel is squirming around, avoiding Griffin's attempts to control the action. Griffin lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Griffin misses with a head shot. Samuel is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Samuel tries to buck Griffin off but Griffin takes his back! Griffin has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Samuel. Griffin is working the ground and pound. Can Samuel escape? Samuel is trying to get back to his feet but Griffin has full control of the position and if anything, Samuel has just worked his way into a worse spot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel with a poor takedown and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Samuel won't be happy with that. Griffin takes a little break here. Samuel wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Griffin lands a few punches from side control. Griffin lands some shots froms side control. Samuel is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Samuel wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Griffin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Samuel is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Griffin is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Samuel wants to get back to his feet but Griffin drags him back down. Griffin lands an elbow. Griffin trying to control the action but Samuel is working from the bottom. Griffin tries to score with some ground and pound. Samuel controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Samuel wants to get back to his feet. Samuel dodges the ground and pound from Griffin. Samuel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Samuel pushes Griffin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Griffin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Griffin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Samuel, who protects the arm well. Griffin tries for a kimura but Samuel is defending well. Samuel defending against the ground and pound. Griffin prevents Samuel from escaping the position. The ground and pound from Griffin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Griffin throws an elbow but Samuel slips to the side and avoids it well. Samuel is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Griffin has just dragged him back down to the mat. Griffin scores with punches from side control. Griffin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Samuel has escaped the position, nice work there. Bart Griffin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The strikes coming from Griffin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Samuel shoots and misses and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown. Samuel fights it but they end up in guard. Griffin stops Samuel from standing up. Griffin trying to control but Samuel is working from the bottom. Griffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Griffin prevents Samuel from getting back to his feet. Griffin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Samuel dives on top into guard. Griffin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Samuel stays in close to Griffin's body and controls the position. Samuel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Griffin is keeping the position for now. Samuel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Samuel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Samuel trying to control but Griffin is working from the bottom. Samuel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Griffin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Griffin has his foot on Samuel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Samuel works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Griffin keeps the fight on the outside. Jorge Samuel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Samuel is looking to clinch but Griffin is avoiding it.

Samuel shoots in looking for a takedown. Griffin tries to sprawl out of it but Samuel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griffin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Griffin showed some decent athleticism there. Griffin wants to work for an arm triangle but Samuel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Samuel. Griffin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Griffin lands in his opponent's guard. Griffin won't allow Samuel to get back to his feet. Griffin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Samuel's guard. Griffin prevents Samuel from standing back up.
Griffin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Griffin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Samuel can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
