PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bradley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rab Nesbitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bradley comes into the arena with Rule Britannia blaring out of the sound system. Nesbitt has chosen Rab.C.Nesbitt Theme as his entrance music. Rab Nesbitt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Bradley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rab Nesbitt!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nesbitt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Bradley throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nesbitt avoids the head kick by Bradley.
Nesbitt shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bradley defends it nicely.
Bradley misses with a leg kick.
Bradley takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Nesbitt shoots in and drives through. Bradley sprawls well.
Nesbitt tries to score with a low kick but Bradley moves his leg out of the way.

Bradley throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

and Nesbitt counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bradley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Nesbitt postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bradley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nesbitt, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nesbitt had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bradley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nesbitt Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bradley's back instead.

Bradley just trying to survive but Nesbitt is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bradley turns into Nesbitt and is now in his guard.

Nesbitt throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bradley escapes and throws Nesbitt's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bradley decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nesbitt to his feet.

It looks like Rab Nesbitt has been cut.
Bradley throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bradley misses with a series of wild punches.
Bradley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Nesbitt.

Nesbitt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Paul Bradley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rab Nesbitt.

and Nesbitt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bradley's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nesbitt won't allow Bradley to get back to his feet.

Bradley pushes Nesbitt off and scrambles back to his feet.

Nesbitt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bradley was covering up waiting for the punch and Nesbitt finishes the takedown easily into guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nesbitt drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bradley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nesbitt has Bradley in his guard.

Bradley decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Nesbitt blocks a head kick by Bradley.

Rab Nesbitt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nesbitt drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bradley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bradley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bradley!

Nesbitt takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Bradley throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Bradley closes the distance but Nesbitt moves to the side

and Nesbitt counters by clinching up.
Nesbitt tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bradley throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Nesbitts head.
Bradley wants to break free but Nesbitt has control.
