Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blake McIntosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gigas San (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Blake McIntosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gigas San!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
San shoots in for a takedown but McIntosh shows good takedown defense.
A solid leg kick lands there for San.
McIntosh has his takedown stuffed

and San holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

San gets control of McIntosh's arms and successfully pulls guard. San will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
San avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McIntosh sitting in guard, not really doing much.
San striking off his back but it's not causing McIntosh any problems.
McIntosh tries to free his leg and advance position but San is retaining full guard.
San controls McIntosh momentarily but McIntosh frees himself.
McIntosh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
San manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
San throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

San jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McIntosh manages to avoid the submission attempt.
McIntosh wants to control but San postures up.

McIntosh tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but San wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and San counters with a solid body kick.
McIntosh is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

San gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McIntosh to score an easy takedown into full guard.

San pushes McIntosh off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
San throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Blake McIntosh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

San moves into the clinch.

San successfully pulls guard.
San keeping moving, preventing McIntosh from controlling successfully.
San wants to stand but McIntosh is controlling the position.
McIntosh working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
San is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McIntosh is controlling him.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as San holds on and takes a little breather.

San is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McIntosh throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

McIntosh drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and San dives on top into guard.
San tries to stand but McIntosh is controlling from the bottom.

San is pushing down on McIntosh's leg trying to pass to half guard. McIntosh is fighting to maintain full guard but San has managed to sneak the leg through.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
San thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
San throwing shots but McIntosh is blocking nicely.
McIntosh is refusing to be controlled, as San sits in half guard.
McIntosh wants to get back to full guard.
McIntosh is working hard here to advance position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
San looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McIntosh is fending him off so far but San persists. Nope, McIntosh circles away and we're back to standing.

San shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McIntosh manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gigas San dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


San shoots for a takedown but McIntosh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McIntosh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. San defends it nicely.

McIntosh drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
San can't do much from the bottom here.
San gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
San is trying to stand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
San is looking to control McIntosh's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can San avoid being mounted?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

San won't allow McIntosh to pass to mount.
San trying to hold on to McIntosh's head to control him but McIntosh postures up.
McIntosh throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

San shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

McIntosh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. San gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McIntosh is trying to control but San passes into side control!
San works to advance to full mount. McIntosh defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
McIntosh is looking to get to half guard.
San lands with some strikes.
McIntosh tries to reverse the position but San maintains control.
San controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
San tries to control but McIntosh wriggling away.
McIntosh is in all sorts of trouble here.
San throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

San takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McIntosh wants to control but San is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
San lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
McIntosh is trying to reverse the position but instead San has taken his back - oops!
San is hanging on to McIntosh's back as he tries to escape.
A lull in the action here.

San is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. McIntosh defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
McIntosh rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
McIntosh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gigas San showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


No luck for McIntosh with that takedown attempt.
San takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
San moves in looking to clinch but McIntosh pushes him off.
McIntosh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and San counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by San.
McIntosh wants to sweep but no luck.
McIntosh is trying to keep San in close.
San sitting in guard, not really doing much.

San is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McIntosh wants to stand up but San is controlling him.
McIntosh throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
San stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McIntosh swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McIntosh has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but San can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
San fails to land the takedown.
San closes the distance and clinches up with McIntosh, looking for a takedown. San pushes McIntosh against the cage but McIntosh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McIntosh has his takedown stuffed

and San counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blake McIntosh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McIntosh is defending against the submission attempts here by San.
McIntosh wants to control but San is keeping busy.
McIntosh gets back to full guard.
McIntosh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for San!

San is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

McIntosh avoids the attempt from San to control.
San is trying to escape the mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McIntosh lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
McIntosh can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as San is looking to escape.
McIntosh misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
McIntosh tries to control but San wriggling away.

McIntosh looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
San is desperately trying to improve his position but McIntosh has a good base and remains in mount.
Blake McIntosh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gigas San is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McIntosh throwing strikes here but San is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gigas San comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well San has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
