PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Durant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zach Striker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin Durant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zach Striker!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Striker misses with a few strikes there.
Striker explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Striker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Durant tries to avoid it but Striker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Durant to the ground. Durant escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Striker misses with a takedown attempt - Durant sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Striker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Durant to the mat! Durant manages to get full guard.
Durant wants to sweep but no luck.
Durant has his hands on Striker's head, controlling the position.
Striker preventing the sweep.
Durant pulls Striker in close to his closed guard and prevents Striker from doing any damage or advancing position.

Durant pushes Striker off and gets back to his feet.

Striker shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Durant napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Striker wants to stand but Durant has his arm trapped.
Durant sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Striker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Striker is looking to stall here but Durant recovers full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Striker looks gassed!
Durant pulls Striker in close to his closed guard and prevents Striker from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Striker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Durant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Durant pulls Striker in to control the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Durant is on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Striker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Durant shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Striker is trying to control the position but Durant postures up.

Durant is pushing down on Striker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Striker is fighting to maintain full guard but Durant has managed to sneak the leg through.
Durant takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Striker gets back to full guard.
Striker is trying to control the position but Durant postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Durant slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Durant has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Striker!

Durant really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Striker is trying desperately to improve position.
Striker tries to hold on but Durant postures up.
Striker tries to buck Durant off but he can't manage it.

Durant moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Striker has worked his arm free - good work by Striker!

Striker is not content to let Durant control the position.
Striker is looking to get back to his feet here but Durant is keeping cool and he's managed to take Striker's back.
Striker rolls, trying to escape but Durant keeps control of the position.
Durant is working the ground and pound. Can Striker escape?
I really don't envy Striker right now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
I would not like to be Striker right now.
Durant's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Striker is trying to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Striker trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Durant controls the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Durant dominated that second round.
That's time! Durant's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Durant looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Durant decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Striker scores with a head kick.

Striker has Durant up against the cage in a clinch.

Striker is fighting off a takedown attempt but Durant is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Striker to the mat. Striker regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Striker keeps Durant at a distance using the push kick.
Striker lands a with a good body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Durant is defended easily by Striker.
Striker works over Durant's head and body with a nice combination.

Horrible takedown by Striker or perhaps it was just good defense by Durant which made him look bad.

Durant has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Striker tries to lock up and control but Durant gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Durant wants to control the pace but Striker is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Durant takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kevin Durant.
I think Durant has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
