The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makayata shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
McNeil is holding on to half guard well.
McNeil pushes Makayata off looking to stand but Makayata dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are battling for position here. McNeil manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
McNeil seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Makayata drops back, looking for a kneebar! McNeil looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McNeil looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McNeil!
McNeil postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
McNeil has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Makayata is looking for a sweep.
Makayata regains half guard.

McNeil slips a nice elbow through Makayata's hands, connecting with Makayata's forehead.

Makayata is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Makayata takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! McNeil's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
