Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nolan Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonah Akahi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akahi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Thuggish Ruggish Bone kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akahi misses with a few strikes there.
Akahi tries to close the distance and clinch but Baker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Jonah Akahi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Baker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Akahi's half guard. Akahi wants to stand back up but Baker manages to pass into side control.
Baker stands up. Akahi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Baker circles away from the clinch attempt.
Baker keeps the fight on the outside. Akahi has his takedown stuffed and Baker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Akahi's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Akahi's guard. Baker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Baker keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Baker wants to pass the guard but Akahi is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akahi is looking to escape. Baker is trying to work for a kimura but Akahi is defending well.
Baker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Baker is taking a breather. Akahi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Akahi is trying to stand back up but Baker is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Akahi is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Baker looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Baker is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Akahi pushes Baker off looking to stand but Baker dives back in and keeps control.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Akahi looks to land a combination but Baker avoids it well. Akahi looks gassed! Baker darts in and clinches Akahi up against the cage. Baker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Akahi gets caught flat footed, as Baker shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Baker stays in close to Akahi's body and controls the position. Baker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Baker works over Akahi with some ground and pound from guard. Baker gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akahi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Akahi lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Baker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Baker stops Akahi from getting back to his feet.
Baker wants to pass the guard but Akahi is defending well. Akahi wants to get back to his feet.
Baker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Akahi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Akahi is trying to stand.
Baker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nolan Baker dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Akahi connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Akahi tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Baker counters with a two punch combo. Nolan Baker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Akahi tries to bum rush Baker with a series of wild strikes but Baker uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Akahi tries to clinch but fails miserably and Baker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Jonah Akahi has been cut. Baker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Akahi looks like he's trying to stand up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baker escapes and gets back to his feet. Baker circles away from the clinch attempt and Baker counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Baker slows the pace down in half guard. Akahi tries to kick Baker off but Baker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baker stands up out of the half guard. Akahi scores with a three punch combo!
Baker takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Akahi looks to land a right hand but Baker moved out of range. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Baker is defended easily by Akahi. Akahi shoots in looking for a takedown. Baker tries to sprawl out of it but Akahi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Baker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Akahi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Baker holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Baker gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Baker trying to control but Akahi is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akahi wants to stand but Baker is controlling the position. Baker controlling from the top position. Akahi wants to stand and escape but Baker is having none of it. Baker is standing up over Akahi. Akahi looks to escape but Baker dives into side control.
Akahi is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Baker is controlling him well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Baker controlling from side mount. Akahi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Baker has just dragged him back down to the mat. Baker tries to move to mount but Akahi blocks the move with his legs. Baker has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Akahi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Baker, pushing him back against the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Akahi blocks the elbow strike.
Akahi is working for takedown but Baker is calmly controlling the position for now. Nolan Baker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonah Akahi. Baker pulls guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nolan Baker dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jonah Akahi's cut. That's time! Baker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Akahi shoots and misses and Baker counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Akahi tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Baker manages to move to mount!
Nolan Baker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Baker putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Akahi is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
