PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Brewster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ozvaldo Ribero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brewster might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to System of A Down - Chop Suey. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Brewster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ozvaldo Ribero!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewster works Ribero's body with a nice hook.

Brewster scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Brewster working away.
Brewster controls the position.
Ribero tries to buck Brewster off but Brewster is having none of it.
Ribero is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Brewster's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Ribero is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brewster passes to side control.
Ribero is looking to regain half guard here but Brewster keeps moving and retains side control.
Brewster creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
You can see the frustration on Ribero's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ribero is pushing Brewster's head away, looking to escape. Brewster manages to hold on to the position though.

Brewster tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ribero's legs.
Brewster is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ribero's shoulder. That is not cool.
Ribero tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Brewster has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ribero!
Brewster trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ribero is trying to escape the mount.
Brewster will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Brewster tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ribero can't escape the position.
Brewster controlling from the full mount.
Brewster breaks from Ribero's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Brewster with shots to the head and body - Ribero looks very uncomfortable down there.

Brewster wants to finish this one by submission but Ribero is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Brewster.

Ribero is looking to improve his position but Brewster isn't that keen on the idea.

Ribero tries to lock up and control but Brewster gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ribero is trying to escape the mount.
Brewster lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Brewster looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ribero is trying desperately to improve position.

Brewster's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Ribero tries to stall but Brewster uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Brewster jumps guard and drags Ribero to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brewster pulls Ribero in close to his closed guard and prevents Ribero from doing any damage or advancing position.
Brewster is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ribero is looking to control Brewster's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ribero avoid being mounted?
Well, if Brewster is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Brewster is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ribero wants to control but Brewster is having none of it.
Brewster takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Robert Brewster just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Ribero wants to improve his position but Brewster is controlling well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Brewster seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ribero for as long as he can get away with.

Robert Brewster is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Brewster had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ribero is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Brewster Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ribero's back instead.

Ozvaldo Ribero has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brewster is not going to allow Ribero to sit and survive in this position.

Well Brewster has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
