The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paveto throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paveto throws a series of punches but Mendez moves out of range.
Paveto circles away from the clinch attempt.
Paveto goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Paveto ducks under a wild hook from Mendez.
Paveto misses with a series of wild punches.
No joy there for Paveto, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mendez dodges the punch combination from Paveto.
Mendez moves in looking to clinch but Paveto pushes him off.
Paveto throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch but Paveto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendez looks to land a right hand but Paveto moved out of range.
Mendez slips under a jab from Paveto.
Paveto connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mendez. Mendez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Mendez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Paveto misses with a few strikes there.
Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Paveto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A jab from Paveto does it's job there.
Some wild striking there from Mendez.
Mendez misses with a straight left.
Paveto cracks Mendez with an open hand slap.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mendez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mendez slips a straight right by Paveto.
Mendez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mendez drops Paveto with a left right combo! Mendez follows him down to the ground into side control.

Paveto is rocked!

It looks like Gosho Paveto has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mendez advances to full mount.
Oh Paveto is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
