Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Corpuz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Goodman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Corpuz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Goodman!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corpuz tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Goodman scores with a crisp jab that stopped Corpuz in his tracks.

Corpuz clinches up against the cage.
Goodman has had enough of the clinch but Corpuz keeps him there for the moment.
Corpuz wants a takedown but no success here.

Corpuz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Corpuz throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Corpuz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goodman manages to get himself to full guard.
Corpuz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Goodman is proving hard to escape from.
Corpuz is pushing down on Goodman's leg trying to pass to half guard. Goodman is fighting to maintain full guard but Corpuz has managed to sneak the leg through.
Corpuz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Goodman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Goodman tries to roll over but Corpuz keeps him under control.
Goodman trying to hold on to Corpuz's head to control him but Corpuz postures up.
Corpuz is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Corpuz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Goodman is looking to escape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Goodman wants to hold on but Corpuz pushes him away.
Corpuz trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Corpuz tries to push Goodman's head away but Goodman is holding on tight.

Corpuz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Corpuz trying to control but Goodman is having none of it.
Corpuz sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Corpuz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Goodman manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Corpuz working away.
Goodman looks gassed!
Goodman is not content to let Corpuz control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Goodman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Goodman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Corpuz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Goodman avoids it really well and circles away.
Corpuz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Corpuz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Goodman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Goodman lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Mark Corpuz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Goodman throws a series of strikes that have Corpuz backpedaling.
Goodman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Corpuz.
Goodman tries to clinch but Corpuz moves out of range.

Goodman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Corpuz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Corpuz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Goodman tries to avoid it but Corpuz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Goodman to the ground. Goodman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Goodman doesn't manage to clinch there - Corpuz circles away.
Corpuz wants to clinch up but Goodman keeps it at a distance.
Corpuz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Goodman looks to land a combination but Corpuz avoids it well.
Corpuz shoots in but no luck this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Corpuz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Goodman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Corpuz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Goodman walks away with a smile on his face. Corpuz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Corpuz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Goodman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Goodman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Corpuz.

Goodman swings wildly with an uppercut but Corpuz uses good head movement to avoid it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Corpuz is trying to break the clinch but Goodman is controlling him.
Corpuz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Goodman walks away with a smile on his face. Corpuz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

John Goodman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Goodman moves in looking to clinch but Corpuz pushes him off.
Corpuz tries to clinch but Goodman is having none of it.

Corpuz could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Goodman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Corpuz shoots for a double leg takedown but Goodman sprawls well. He's pushed Corpuz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Goodman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Goodman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Corpuz throws a low kick but it's checked well by Goodman.
Goodman fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Corpuz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Corpuz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Goodman's waist but Goodman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Corpuz off to one side.
Corpuz shoots for a takedown but Goodman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

John Goodman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goodman moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Corpuz shoots in for a takedown but Goodman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Corpuz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Corpuz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Goodman is controlling an arm, preventing Corpuz from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Corpuz thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Corpuz looking to control but Goodman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Corpuz misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Goodman is squirming around, avoiding Corpuz's attempts to control the action.
Goodman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Corpuz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Corpuz.
I think Corpuz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
