Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Monnerat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Moonstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monnerat lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Moonstar circles away quickly and effectively.
Monnerat fails in his attempt to clinch.
Moonstar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Moonstar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Monnerat pinned against the cage. Monnerat gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Monnerat looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Monnerat fails with an attempt to clinch.
Moonstar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Monnerat fails with an attempt to clinch.

Monnerat avoids the body shot from Moonstar.
Monnerat tries to clinch but Moonstar moves out of range.

Moonstar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Moonstar in particular looking to stall.

Moonstar is looking to advance position but Monnerat won't allow it.
Monnerat gets full guard.
Moonstar with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Moonstar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Monnerat bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Moonstar's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Monnerat trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Moonstar is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monnerat advances to half guard.
Monnerat is breathing heavily.
Moonstar is looking to control Monnerat's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moonstar avoid being mounted?

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monnerat is looking for a kimura but Moonstar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Monnerat to get the leverage.
Moonstar wants to get back to his feet.

Monnerat is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Moonstar sees it coming and defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moonstar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Moonstar wants to improve his position but Monnerat is controlling well.
Moonstar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monnerat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moonstar is pressing down on Monnerat's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Moonstar is adopting a defensive guard.
Moonstar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Monnerat is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monnerat drops back, looking for a kneebar! Moonstar looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Moonstar looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Moonstar!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Monnerat tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Moonstar lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Moonstar really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Monnerat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Travis Moonstar will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Monnerat gets caught flat footed, as Moonstar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Moonstar is posturing up here but Monnerat has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Moonstar tries to roll out but it's too tight and Moonstar has to tap! Slick submission there by Monnerat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jorge Monnerat!
