The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from O Reily.
O Reily closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
O Reily missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Payne is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Payne wants to control but O Reily is keeping busy.
O Reily is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Payne sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
O Reily is looking to take a break and control but Payne is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
O Reily seems to be looking for submissions.
Payne wants to improve his position but O Reily is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Payne pushes O Reily up against the cage in a clinch.
O Reily tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Payne wants the takedown. O Reily is fighting it off but Payne persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in O Reily's guard against the cage.
O Reily has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Payne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Payne with a flurry of punches that miss.
O Reily is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Payne has his hands clasped together but O Reily extends an breaks Payne's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by O Reily.
