Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shemp Cobblestone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Akimbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shemp Cobblestone has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shemp Cobblestone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Akimbo!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cobblestone avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Akimbo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Akimbo drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cobblestone controls Akimbo momentarily but Akimbo frees himself.
Akimbo wants to stand but Cobblestone is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cobblestone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Akimbo manages to get himself to full guard.
Cobblestone trying to control but Akimbo is working from the bottom.
Akimbo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cobblestone puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Akimbo kicks off Cobblestone and gets to his feet.
Cobblestone swings for the body but Akimbo moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akimbo fails with an attempt to clinch.

Akimbo rushes Cobblestone and presses him up against the cage.
Cobblestone keeps control of Akimbo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Akimbo fails to pull guard.
Akimbo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Cobblestone drags the fight down to the ground.
Akimbo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cobblestone is on top in guard.
Cobblestone advances to half guard.
Akimbo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Cobblestone has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Cobblestone raining down shots from the mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akimbo throws a strike from the bottom but Cobblestone uses the opportunity to take his back.
Akimbo is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Cobblestone has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Cobblestone tries to get the hooks in deep but Akimbo pushed the leg off.
Cobblestone is hanging on to Akimbo's back as he tries to escape.

Cobblestone has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Akimbo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The referee is taking a good look at Akimbo as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Cobblestone!

Cobblestone is looking to control Akimbo but Akimbo is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Akimbo tries to escape the position.
Akimbo is keeping busy.
Cobblestone is trying to stick to Akimbo's back but Akimbo is turning into Cobblestone. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Cobblestone's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Akimbo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Akimbo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Akimbo wants to clinch up but Cobblestone keeps it at a distance.
Cobblestone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Akimbo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cobblestone tries for a takedown but Akimbo circles away easily
and Akimbo counters with a one-two to the body.
Cobblestone is breathing heavily.
Cobblestone with a poor takedown
enabling Akimbo to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Shemp Cobblestone has been cut.
Akimbo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cobblestone counters with a nice body shot.
Akimbo tries to clinch but Cobblestone is having none of it.
Akimbo scores with a hook.

Akimbo darts in and clinches Cobblestone up against the cage.
Akimbo tries to pull guard but Cobblestone won't allow it.
Shemp Cobblestone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Akimbo.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Akimbo pulls guard.
Akimbo looking for a sweep. Not yet Akimbo, not yet.
Cobblestone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Akimbo is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Akimbo dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shemp Cobblestone's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Akimbo.
Akimbo cracks Cobblestone with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Akimbo throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Akimbo scores with punches from side control.
Cobblestone is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Akimbo off and has taken his back!
Akimbo tries to break free.
Akimbo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Cobblestone stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Akimbo drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Akimbois looking to pass into half guard but Cobblestone pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cobblestone is in guard.
Akimbo is looking to stand up but Cobblestone isn't so interested in that idea.
Akimbo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cobblestone is pushing down on Akimbo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Akimbo is fighting to maintain full guard but Cobblestone has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cobblestone not doing much here.
Akimbo strikes from the bottom but Cobblestone uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Akimbo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cobblestone in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Cobblestone remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Cobblestone trying to control the position but Akimbo is working away.
Akimbo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cobblestone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Akimbo is looking for a sweep.

Cobblestone is working to tighten is grip on Akimbo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Akimbo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cobblestone is really squeezing tight and eventually Akimbo passes out! Cobblestone breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
