Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Gerra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes into the arena with Sepultura - Refuse/Resist blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Rodrigo Diaz has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Rodrigo Diaz seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodrigo Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clark Gerra! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Gerra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rodrigo Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice takedown defense from Gerra. No joy for Diaz on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gerra feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Gerra changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Gerra looking to pass the guard. Gerra with a nice head shot there. Gerra trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gerra trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gerra advances to half guard. Gerra is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Diaz is in trouble now - Gerra has advanced to mount! Diaz is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gerra can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diaz is looking to escape. Gerra lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Diaz hang on? Gerra working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Gerra has a good base and remains in mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gerra trying to control but Diaz is having none of it. Gerra might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Diaz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Diaz sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Gerra looks gassed! Gerra is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz wants to get back to full guard. Gerra seems to be looking for submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Diaz looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Diaz slips nicely into half guard. Gerra tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg. Gerra is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gerra trying to control from the bottom.

Diaz chips away with some ground and pound. Gerra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gerra is tightening it up a little... Diaz has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Diaz reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Diaz taps out! nice BJJ there by Gerra!
