Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny hawk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Bell! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! hawk misses with a takedown attempt - Bell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Bell waves his right hand out infront of him, looking to distract hawk. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped hawk to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
hawk is rocked!
It looks like Johnny hawk has been cut. hawk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Oh hawk is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Bell looking to control the position here, rather than advance. hawk seems to have got his legs back now. hawk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. hawk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bell sitting in guard here, content to control. hawk throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bell escapes and throws hawk's legs to the side, diving into side control! A lull in the action here as Bell stalls from top position. hawk is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bell's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. hawk gets full guard. hawk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bell is one step ahead there. Bell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Bell throwing strikes from guard but hawk blocks nicely. Bell throws a big right hand that misses. Bell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. hawk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. hawk is breathing heavily. Bell is looking to work some ground and pound but hawk has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. hawk working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bell.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. hawk closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Bell controlling the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bell tries to roll over but hawk keeps him under control. Bell moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bell looking to sweep here. No luck so far. hawk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bell swivels though and keeps the full guard. hawk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bell is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of hawk, into his guard. Bell controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Bell slips nicely into half guard. Bell wants to work for an arm triangle but hawk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Bell controlling the action here. hawk blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bell. Bell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with hawk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. hawk could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bell throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Bell throwing shots but hawk is blocking nicely. Bell is controlling the pace.
hawk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Bell dominated that round. The cut man is working on Johnny hawk's cut. That's time! hawk's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
hawk on the wrong end of a nice jab. hawk shoots in but no luck this time. hawk is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bell cracks hawk with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Bell scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Bell cracks hawk with a good jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bell with a body punch. A glancing blow. Joe Bell seems to be getting the better of the standup. Bell lands an uppercut out of nowhere! hawk falls backwards - clearly groggy! Bell dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Bell!
