Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Kaufman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Billy Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Kaufman! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaufman tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Johnson leaves Kaufman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kaufman shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Johnson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Johnson. Kaufman finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kaufman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Kaufman is working for a kimura but Johnson is defending it quite comfortably.
Johnson wants to improve his position but Kaufman is controlling well.

Kaufman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Johnson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kaufman. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kaufman on the ground. Johnson manages to get to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kaufman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Johnson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Johnson has escaped and now he's on top! Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kaufman looks gassed! Johnson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Kaufman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kaufman is working for a kimura but Johnson is defending it quite comfortably.

Kaufman is trying desperately to improve position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Johnson avoids the attempt from Kaufman to control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Johnson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

and Kaufman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard. Kaufman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Johnson pushes Kaufman off and gets back to his feet.
Kaufman fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head. Johnson misses with a hook. Kaufman ducked under it nicely. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kaufman misses with a takedown attempt and Johnson counters with a left and a right that stings Kaufman. Johnson lands with a nice combination. Kaufman backs away looking to recover. Billy Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kaufman!

Kaufman throws out a powerful jab. Kaufman throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kaufman swats him away and circles back towards the center. Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kaufman. That was a close second round but I would say that Billy Johnson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Johnson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kaufman lands a two punch combo.
Johnson is rocked! A left and a right from Kaufman both land. Nice combination. Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kaufman fails with the takedown and Johnson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kaufman's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kaufman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Johnson seems to have got his legs back now. Kaufman working for a triangle but Johnson defends it easily.

Kaufman wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment. Kaufman trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Johnson stands and throws Kaufman's legs to the side, diving into side control. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kaufman is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Johnson scores with punches from side control. Kaufman is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Kaufman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaufman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back! Johnson can't escape the position.

Johnson lands a couple of elbows. Kaufman tries to land a sweep but no joy. Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Kaufman keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Johnson connects with a couple of short punches. Johnson preventing the sweep. Johnson scoring with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Johnson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Johnson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Billy Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Kaufman. Kaufman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Kaufman persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing. Kaufman will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kaufman napping and manages to drive through into side control! Billy Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kaufman is trying to improve his position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that's the end of the fight! Andy Kaufman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Johnson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
