The bell rings for round one and we are underway! hiton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Beam to the mat! Beam manages to get full guard. Beam bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in hiton's guard. Beam advances to half guard. Nice strikes from Beam there. hiton actively working from the bottom here. hiton actively working from the bottom here. Beam stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. hiton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Beam did well to prevent hiton getting side control. hiton is breathing heavily. Beam tries to roll over but hiton keeps him under control. Beam is pressing down on hiton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beam is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Beam lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for hiton! Beam controlling from mount. Beam lands a nice shot to the head.

Beam with the ground and pound from mount. Beam takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Beam landing strikes, looking to finish! hiton is working to get back to half guard.
Beam goes for an armbar but hiton turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from hiton.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Beam with good strikes from the mount here! Beam working for a guillotine from mount but hiton is in no mood to give up. Beam looking to control and managing it successfully. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. hiton has given up his back.

Jim Beam dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
hiton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Beam moves into the clinch. hiton goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Beam lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Beam decides to stand and escape the position. Beam leaves hiton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. hiton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Beam is looking to control hiton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Beam avoid being mounted? Beam is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but hiton is staying active. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Beam looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jim Beam has got the better of the ground game so far. hiton wants to stand but Beam has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Beam is pulling down on hiton's head. It's preventing any offense from hiton, at least for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. hiton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Beam looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Beam is trying to control the position from the bottom.
hiton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Beam manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. hiton tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Beam counters with a nice double leg into guard. Beam sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed hiton's guard. hiton looks like he's trying to stand up.
Beam passes to full mount! hiton is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. hiton is desperately trying to improve his position but Beam has a good base and remains in mount. Beam in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
hiton is in all sorts of trouble here.
Beam working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. hiton turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Beam off and cradles hiton's limp body as Beam celebrates with his corner.
