Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Bishop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddie Mason! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bishop gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mason is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Bishop is keeping busy. Mason fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mason jumps guard but Bishop stands there with Mason around his waist. Mason gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mason tries to score a body lock takedown but Bishop shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Steven Bishop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Mason. Mason working hard to break the clinch. Mason gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bishop.
Mason is working for takedown but Bishop is calmly controlling the position for now. Mason has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bishop avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Mason tries to pull guard but Bishop won't allow it.
Mason wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Bishop is trying to trip Mason. He has hold of a leg but Mason is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bishop persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Bishop wanted to stand there but Mason had control of the position. Bishop pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mason is keeping the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bishop controlling from the top position. Mason is trying to control the position but Bishop postures up. Bishop content to stall in guard here. Bishop trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Bishop takes the fight into the clinch. Mason tries for a takedown but Bishop manages to get underhooks.
Bishop is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Bishop jumps into guard, dragging Mason to the mat.
Mason postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bishop looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mason trying to control the position from guard on top but Bishop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bishop looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mason drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bishop looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bishop looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bishop! Mason is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mason looks gassed! Mason is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Bishop wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mason keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Bishop wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mason, who protects the arm well. Mason wants to control but Bishop postures up. Bishop trying to control the action but Mason is working from the bottom. Bishop working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steven Bishop dominated that round. That's time! Bishop's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mason is looking to clinch but Bishop is avoiding it.
Bishop is looking to land body kicks. Bishop wants to clinch. Mason is looking to clinch. Bishop avoids the head kick by Mason.
Mason has a takedown stuffed. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mason looks for a takedown but Bishop sprawls well. Bishop gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mason counters with a single leg into guard. Bishop didn't expect that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bishop swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bishop managing to control the position. Mason tries to free his leg and advance position but Bishop is retaining full guard. Mason controls from within his opponent's guard. Bishop is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Bishop tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bishop working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Mason stands up over Bishop, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mason in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bishop has a closed guard, preventing Mason from standing up. Mason looking to pass the guard. Bishop uses the cage to get back to his feet.

and Mason counters with a nice double leg into guard. Bishop wants to stand but Mason is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason trying to control but Bishop is working from the bottom. Bishop has Mason pulled in close to control his posture. Bishop trying to keep a closed guard but Mason is proving a slippery customer.
Bishop striking off his back but it's not causing Mason any problems. Bishop looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mason passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mason connects with a nice short shot to Bishop's temple. Bishop is trying to maintain the position but Mason is very close to passing his half guard. Mason is trying to control. Bishop wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Bishop trying to control here.
Mason lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Bishop is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eddie Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Mason pushes Bishop away with a front kick. Mason connects with a high kick. Mason looks for a takedown but Bishop sprawls well. Mason misses with a takedown so Bishop counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mason is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Bishop trying to control here.
Bishop is defending against the submission attempts here by Mason.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bishop is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bishop blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mason. Mason wants to control but Bishop is keeping him busy. Bishop holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Mason is looking to take a break and control but Bishop is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Bishop.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mason moves into range and clinches up with Bishop. Bishop throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Bishop goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mason prevents it.

Mason controlling Bishop's posture. Bishop trying to control the position from guard on top but Mason is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bishop looking to sit in guard and control but Mason gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Bishop is trying to keep Mason in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bishop keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. Mason landing some decent shots from guard. Bishop has momentary wrist control but Mason slips an elbow through the middle.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mason gets a takedown into half guard. Bishop wants to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Eddie Mason. I think Mason has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
