Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Staal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Black has chosen IN FLAMES - F(r)iend as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Staal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Black! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staal throws out a loose jab but Black uses good head movement to avoid it. Staal dodges the punch combination from Black.
A big left from Black misses. Black moves away from the strike by Staal. Black misses with a looping left. Frank Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Staal misses with a straight left. Nice defenses there by Staal. Black throws a nice looking combination but Staal bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Black throws a hook but Staal blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Staal shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Staal looking to ground and pound but Black is blocking nicely. Black tries to hold on but Staal postures up. Staal unloads with some shots from mount but Black bucks and avoids them well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staal looking to finish Black with some ground and pound. This is bad for Black! Staal throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Black because Staal loaded up on that one. Staal goes for an armbar but Black turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Black. Black looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Staal looking for a sweep. Not yet Staal, not yet. Staal has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Black postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Black throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Staal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staal lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Black! Staal blocks Black's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Black prevents any damage by holding on tight. Staal wants to control the pace but Black is squirming around nicely. Staal postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Black looks a forlorn figure.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Black is in trouble now - Staal has advanced to mount! Staal looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Black suckers Staal into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Black is now in Staal's guard!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Staal looking to hit a scissor sweep but Black is one step ahead there. Black slips nicely into half guard. Staal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Black trying to control from half guard but Staal is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Staal slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Black working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Staal's head. Staal keeping moving, preventing Black from controlling successfully. Staal bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Black's guard. Staal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Black is keeping the position for now. Staal looking to sit in guard and control but Black gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Staal controls Black momentarily but Black frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Staal dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Black takes a swing at Staal's ribcage but misses. Black drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Staal connects with a body shot. Black will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Horrible takedown by Staal or perhaps it was just good defense by Black which made him look bad. Black connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Staal momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Staal moves out of range of the strikes. Black is breathing heavily.

Staal ducks under a wild hook from Black. Black bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Staal scores with a nice strike.
It looks like Frank Black has been cut. Black displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Staal. Black bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Staal throws a right hand that Black ducks under and follows up with a left that Black also avoids with ease. Black dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Staal clobbers Black with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Black missing with a left hand there. Staal was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Black throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Black is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Staal. Staal shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Black in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Staal with the ground and pound from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staal landing strikes from the mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Black can do anything to dispel that myth. Staal in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Staal is landing with some decent strikes but Black is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Staal working away from the top, dropping strikes. Staal prevents Black from getting the reversal. Staal scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Black?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Staal lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
A nice elbow there by Staal. Staal has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Black's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Staal pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Staal with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

and Black takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Staal scores with a one two! Black had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Black tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Staal was well out of range. Poor timing from Black. Black throws a shot from downtown. Staal moves away and avoids it. Black looks to land a combination. Staal sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Black misses with a double jab
enabling Staal to counter with a crisp jab. Staal takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Brian Staal is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staal has a takedown stuffed. Black throws an overhand right that lands on Staal's shoulder, as Staal tries to avoid the shot. A slow jab from Black misses its intended target. Black tries to bum rush Staal with a series of wild strikes but Staal uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Black throws the left hand but Staal avoids the punch easily. Staal avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Black swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Staal. That's going to take a lot out of him. Black throws a combination that misses and Staal counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Nice sprawl there from Black as Staal shoots in. Black misses with a combination

That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Staal was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Staal scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Black?

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A nice elbow there by Staal. Staal trying to control but Black is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Frank Black comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Staal has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
