The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cassidy wants to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Asano is defended easily by Cassidy.
Asano fails with a takedown attempt.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Asano.
Cassidy manages to get back to half guard.
Cassidy is looking for a sweep. Asano is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Cassidy moves into full guard.
Cassidy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cassidy pulls Asano in close to prevent any damage.

Cassidy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cassidy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Asano keeps working.

Asano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cassidy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cassidy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Asano sees it coming and defends easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cassidy is trying to control the action in half guard but Asano is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cassidy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Asano shoots for a takedown but Cassidy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kevin Cassidy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenshin Asano.
Asano drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cassidy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Asano's guard.
Cassidy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cassidy passes into half guard.
Cassidy is trying for a kimura here. Asano looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Cassidy wins by kimura!
