The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Artest shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Artest was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Machida looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Artest moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Machida has worked his arm free - good work by Machida!

Artest is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Machida is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Artest will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Artest cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Machida tries to buck Artest off but he can't manage it.

Artest is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Machida is surviving well by controlling Artest's body position as best he can.
The referee warns Machida that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Artest is landing with some decent strikes but Machida is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
