Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Big Joe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrei Arloski! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Arloski was covering up waiting for the punch and Joe finishes the takedown easily into guard. Arloski doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Joe advances to half guard. Arloski actively working from the bottom here. Arloski manages to escape and get back to his feet! Joe drives through with a takedown into guard. Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Arloski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Arloski is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Arloski throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Joe is pushing down on Arloski's leg trying to pass to half guard. Arloski is fighting to maintain full guard but Joe has managed to sneak the leg through. Ground and pound from Joe. Joe wants to pass the guard but Arloski is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arloski has one foot on Joe's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Arloski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Joe instigates a clinch. Joe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Joe shoots in and bounces Arloski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Arloski looks gassed! Joe slips nicely into half guard. Joe trying to control from half guard but Arloski is working away. Joe is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Joe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Joe. Joe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Arloski defend it? Joe steps over the head and cranks it - Arloski is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Joe!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Big Joe!
