Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Philip Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Pulambrat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Philip Mayer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Pulambrat! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayer shoots for a takedown but Pulambrat saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Pulambrat stuffs the takedown attempt from Mayer. Mayer gets slowly back to his feet. Pulambrat pushes Mayer away with a front kick. Mayer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mayer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pulambrat is pushing Mayer's head away, looking to escape. Mayer manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mayer tries to advance to mount but can't. Pulambrat is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Mayer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pulambrat knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pulambrat pushes Mayer away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mayer gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mayer is breathing heavily. Pulambrat tries to bench press Mayer off him but Mayer keeps the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mayer is defended easily by Pulambrat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philip Mayer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Excellent takedown into side control there by Pulambrat. Pulambrat is looking to take a break and control but Mayer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mayer is looking to regain half guard here but Pulambrat keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulambrat looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mayer is avoiding damage well.
Mayer is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Mayer tries to roll over but Pulambrat keeps him under control. Pulambrat works his foot free and advances to mount. Pulambrat looking to control and managing it successfully. Mayer is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pulambrat stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Pulambrat fails in his attempt to clinch. Pulambrat circles away from the clinch attempt.

Pulambrat tries to close the distance and clinch but Mayer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pulambrat tries to clinch up but Mayer circles away and keeps his distance. Pulambrat thumps Mayer with a low kick. Pulambrat fails in his attempt to clinch. Pulambrat lands a high kick!
Pulambrat clinches up with Mayer and pushes him back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mayer tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pulambrat tries to land knees in the clinch but Mayer avoids the damage to the body. Pulambrat with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Mayer decides to pull guard. Pulambrat trying to control but Mayer is working from the bottom. Mayer has his foot on Pulambrat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pulambrat works his way back into a safe position though. Mayer wants to sweep here but Pulambrat controlling him for the moment. Mayer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pulambrat is aware though and is defending well. Mayer has his foot on Pulambrat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pulambrat works his way back into a safe position though. Pulambrat got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mayer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pulambrat has managed to get both his arms back between Mayer's legs - danger averted. Mayer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pulambrat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Philip Mayer will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Pulambrat scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Pulambrat trying to control the position but Mayer is working away. Mayer is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mayer manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pulambrat's best efforts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayer looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mayer tries to get to full guard but Pulambrat has control of the leg. Mayer trying to get back to full guard but Pulambrat takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Mayer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pulambrat stands up from mount. Strange move. Mayer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Pulambrat counters by clinching up. Pulambrat tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Mayer has Pulambrat pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mayer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pulambrat tumbling to the mat - Mayer dives into Pulambrat's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mayer has gone for a leg lock! Pulambrat slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mayer's guard. Pulambrat won't allow Mayer to sweep him here. Mayer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pulambrat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pulambrat wants to control from the top but Mayer keeps moving. Mayer has his foot on Pulambrat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pulambrat works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mayer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pulambrat defends well. Mayer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pulambrat manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mayer is trying to escape the mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mayer wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Pulambrat looking for the choke from the back. Mayer tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Pulambrat is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mayer has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Mayer can't escape the position.
Mayer is working hard here to advance position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Juan Pulambrat will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Pulambrat tries to clinch up but Mayer circles away and keeps his distance. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Mayer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pulambrat counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pulambrat. Pulambrat working hard to break the clinch. Pulambrat lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Mayer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pulambrat smiles and moves away.
Pulambrat moves in looking to clinch but Mayer pushes him off. Pulambrat tries to clinch up but Mayer circles away and keeps his distance. Pulambrat tries to clinch but Mayer moves out of range. Pulambrat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mayer counters with a shoot takedown. Pulambrat fights it but they end up in guard. Mayer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pulambrat looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pulambrat looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pulambrat! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mayer is not content to let Pulambrat control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayer is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Mayer looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mayer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pulambrat's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pulambrat's back! Pulambrat just trying to survive but Mayer is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mayer is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Pulambrat with him. Pulambrat is trying to defend but Mayer has an arm under the chin now! Pulambrat grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Philip Mayer!
