Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sam Stan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Victor Bernardes! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stan avoids the body shot from Bernardes.
Bernardes takes a swing at Stan's ribcage but misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Bernardes looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Stan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bernardes throws a sloppy head kick and Stan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bernardes's guard now. Stan trying to control the position from guard on top but Bernardes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Stan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bernardes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Stan drops back looking for a leg! Bernardes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bernardes manages to kick Stan off! Stan jumps back into Bernardes's guard. Bernardes isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stan stacks Bernardes on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stan! Stan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Stan wants to control but Bernardes is keeping him busy. Stan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bernardes, who protects the arm well. Bernardes is looking for a sweep. Bernardes is pushing Stan's head away, looking to escape. Stan manages to hold on to the position though. Bernardes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Bernardes prevents Stan from moving into mount. Bernardes sneaks back into half guard. Bernardes is looking for a sweep. Stan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Bernardes waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Stan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Bernardes throws a right and a left that Stan avoids nicely. Bernardes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stan manages to avoid it. Stan shoots in for a takedown but Bernardes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Bernardes gets caught flat footed, as Stan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Stan wants to pass the guard but Bernardes is keeping the position. Stan trying to control but Bernardes is working from the bottom. Stan won't allow Bernardes to sweep him here. Bernardes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Stan wants to pass the guard but Bernardes is keeping the position. Stan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bernardes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stan has managed to get both his arms back between Bernardes's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bernardes keeping moving, preventing Stan from controlling successfully. Stan landing some decent shots from guard. Bernardes looking for a guillotine here but Stan defends easily.
Bernardes looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bernardes looks gassed! Bernardes keeping moving, preventing Stan from controlling successfully. Stan scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bernardes keeping full guard, as Stan tries to pass. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bernardes is on top in guard.
Bernardes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Bernardes trying to control but Stan is working from the bottom. Stan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bernardes thows a big elbow that misses. Bernardes trying to control but Stan is working from the bottom. Stan looking to control but Bernardes passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Stan dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Bernardes closes the distance and clinches. Stan has clasped his hands together around Bernardes's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Stan has hold of Bernardes's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bernardes tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Stan cranks the arm and Bernardes screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bernardes, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Sam Stan!
