Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tijs Verwest! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Diddy Waffle! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Verwest closes the distance and clinches. Waffle looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Verwest breaks from the clinch.
Verwest moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Verwest shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Verwest stands up from Waffle's guard - Verwest perhaps looking for a knockout. Verwest has managed to clinch.

Waffle gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Verwest shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Verwest was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Verwest throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Verwest has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Verwest trying to control but he's not successful this time. Verwest really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. That's three minutes gone in the round. Verwest pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Waffle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Verwest. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Verwest can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Waffle is looking to escape. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Verwest landing punches. Verwest scoring with strikes but Waffle is staying in there. Verwest controlling the position easily from mount. A nice elbow there by Verwest.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Verwest tries to control but Waffle wriggling away. Verwest lands a big shot there that rocks Waffle but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Verwest lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Waffle tries to lock up and control but Verwest gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Verwest content just to control the position here. Verwest looking to control but Waffle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tijs Verwest dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Verwest feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Verwest pushing down on Waffle's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Waffle. Verwest is going olschool here, as he tries to force Waffle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Waffle shrugs it off. Waffle is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Verwest has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Waffle's face.
Verwest looking to control but Waffle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Verwest is standing up, even though he is in mount. Verwest throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Waffle. Tijs Verwest seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Verwest lands a head kick. Waffle smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Verwest throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Waffle. Verwest pushes Waffle up against the ropes in a clinch. The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows. Nice body punch from Verwest - that landed with a thud.
Verwest changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Waffle fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Verwest closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Verwest is working the ground and pound. Can Waffle escape? Waffle is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Verwest.
Verwest lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Verwest trying to control the position from guard on top but Waffle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Waffle tries to keep at a distance but Verwest has taken the fight into the clinch. Verwest will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Waffle up against the ropes. Verwest is trying to trip Waffle. He has hold of a leg but Waffle is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Verwest persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Waffle can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Verwest controls the pace. Waffle keeping moving, preventing Verwest from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diddy Waffle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Verwest pushes down on Waffle's leg and manages to get into half guard. Waffle trying to control but Verwest postures up.
Waffle is not content to let Verwest control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Tijs Verwest showed his dominance in that final round. Well Verwest has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
