PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andre Bordes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Fist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Danny Fist struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Bordes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danny Fist!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bordes doesn't manage to clinch there - Fist circles away.

Fist has closed the distance and engaged Bordes in a clinch.
Bordes is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Fist is keeping busy.
Fist with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Bordes missing with knees to the body.
Bordes tries to pull guard but Fist won't allow it.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Bordes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fist gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bordes tries to pull guard but Fist holds him up against the cage and eventually Bordes drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Bordes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bordes has Fist pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fist manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Fist has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bordes uses from the top position.

Fist has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bordes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bordes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fist on the ground.
Fist trying to keep a closed guard but Bordes is proving a slippery customer.
Bordes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fist works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Fist is trying to control the position but Bordes postures up.
Bordes lands a couple of digs.

Fist working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bordes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bordes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fist preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Fist looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bordes is one step ahead there.
Bordes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bordes postures up and lands a big shot to Fist's brow.
Fist is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Fist has his foot on Bordes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bordes works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bordes wants to control from the top but Fist keeps moving.
Bordes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Bordes postures up.
Bordes trying to control but Fist is working from the bottom.
Bordes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fist swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fist is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bordes defends well.

Bordes is really struggling to control Fist but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Bordes wants to stand but Fist is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fist tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bordes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fist has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bordes has managed to get both his arms back between Fist's legs - danger averted.
Bordes trying to control but Fist is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fist throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bordes is defended easily by Fist.
Bordes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Fist drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fist just content to control the position.
Bordes tries to control but Fist manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Fist dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Fist scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bordes is trying to control Fist's posture but Fist avoids it.
Fist creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Bordes wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Bordes is looking to regain half guard here but Fist keeps moving and retains side control.
Fist slows the pace down.
Bordes can't do much from the bottom here.
Fist scores with punches from side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fist tries for a kimura but Bordes is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bordes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fist wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Fist is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Bordes is trying to escape and Fist transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Bordes is forced to tap! Nice work there by Fist! Very nice indeed!
