Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Novikov!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novikov circles away from the clinch attempt.

Raisi closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Novikov did well to prevent Raisi getting side control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Raisi lands a nice short elbow.
Raisi is looking to take a break and control but Novikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Novikov throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Raisi wants to free his trapped foot but Novikov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Novikov pushes Raisi off looking to stand but Raisi dives back in and keeps control.
Raisi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Novikov!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Raisi cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Novikov is looking to get to half guard.
Raisi trying to control but Novikov is having none of it.
Raisi lands a heavy elbow.
Raisi wants to control the pace but Novikov is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Novikov in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Novikov is squirming around, avoiding Raisi's attempts to control the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Raisi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Nawaf Raisi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Raisi throws a low kick, looking for Novikov's leg but Novikov calmly moves out of range.
Novikov tries to clinch but Raisi is having none of it.

Raisi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A lazy left from Novikov finds it's target.
Raisi shoots in for a takedown but Novikov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Raisi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Raisi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Novikov's waist but Novikov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Raisi off to one side.
Raisi takes one to the chin there.
Nawaf Raisi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Novikov darts in and clinches Raisi up against the cage.

Novikov manages to break the clinch.
Novikov thuds his right hand into Raisi's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Raisi.
Raisi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Novikov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Raisi thinking.

Novikov tries to clinch there but Raisi circles away.
Novikov lands a with a good body shot.
Novikov lands a jab to Raisi's midsection.

and Novikov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Raisi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Novikov counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Novikov lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Novikov scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Novikov forces Raisi back against the cage and clinches.

Novikov has Raisi pushed against the cage.
Novikov prevents Raisi from breaking the clinch.

Raisi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Novikov just stands there and leans against the cage.

Novikov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Novikov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raisi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Novikov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Raisi trying to control the position from guard on top but Novikov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Novikov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Novikov wants to stand but Raisi is controlling the position.
Raisi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Novikov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Novikov wants to stand but Raisi is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Raisi gets a takedown into half guard.
Raisi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Novikov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Raisi prevents Novikov from standing back up.

Raisi decides to return to a standing position.
Novikov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Victor Novikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Raisi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Novikov's half guard.
Raisi content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Novikov wants to hold on but Raisi pushes him away.
Raisi controlling the position easily from mount.
Novikov can't escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nawaf Raisi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Raisi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
